I haven’t quite hunted down all of my photos for this section, my apologies -I’ll write a little filler for now heheh. In my life, I have been lucky to meet, work with and get to know many great people and do some really cool things.
Cool Things and Famous People
I was a guest on the Bruce Maimen radio show, where I advocated the importance of Net Neutrality.
I sat down with Zig Ziggler and his family, an inspirational man and speaker worth googling.
I met Tim Ferris, author of the Four Hour Work Week and we traded some thoughts about technology.
People often don’t write down what they’ve lost along the way, but much of my life has been shaped by what I’ve lost.
Lost Stuff
I lived as a fat person until just after high school and lost 100lbs and kept it off- email me and I’ll tell ya all about it.
I lost a fiancee, many years ago, seems like many lifetimes. It was a death and rebirth, and the hardest thing I’ve had to deal with to date. Personal tragedy
I’ve lost all of my money (and I mean all of it) as a young adult. This has taught me many things about humility, frugality, materialism, the suffering of others and the immense compassion of simple acts. This has not discouraged me from taking risks, preserving my independence and entrepreneurial spirit. I now know 9,999 ways to not be successful and with my experience I have many theories and insight on how to make better decisions.
I’ve wrecked more nice, new cars than I care to admit. I don’t identify my persona with my car. It is a set back when you wreck one but despite my American upbringing, I am not my car.
I have tried things most people with my upbringing and background only dream about. I didn’t come from home, I didn’t have safety net parents and one day when I’m rich and successful again, I will be able to afford shame for the many mistakes of my past. And after a brief moment, I will realize that in losing all of these things, I invested in experience, which ultimately contributed to my success.
Things that I’ve found along the way: My dog, my friend, and over eager companion with an under bite, Trooper. He keeps me responsible and reminds me everyday to bring home the bacon and get plenty of exercise.
People I always return to:
Jason Brosnan, he is the Wilson to my House persona- he attempts to keep me on the straight and narrow and I entertain him with my mischief.
Kynan and Laura Matz- because you can always count on good music, plenty of alcohol and a place to sleep it off. Wonderful people!
I have a cosmic love/hate with an Uncle of mine. He’s been a big part of my life and pain in my ass and I’m sure he’d say the same thing about me.
I believe the value of life is not in the list of famous people you got to meet, cars you’ve driven, or women you’ve driven away. The most memorable moments are captured when you are trying with every nerve and muscle to accomplish something. The glory is the struggle. It rarely goes as planned and I just happen to recognize the magic moments in a normal life.
